Fed: Labor sets up new Sydney airport search group

Labor has set up a working group to look for a new site for a second Sydney airport.

A Labor spokesman says caucus has approved a shadow ministry recommendation to establishthe group under Opposition Leader SIMON CREAN.

The group will work out processes to find a new site in time for the ALP national conferencein January next year.

Mr CREAN upset some Sydney MPs when he announced last month that Labor was dumpingBadgerys Creek as its preferred site.

The spokesman says that although the working group is made up of frontbenchers, MrCREAN has promised that other MPs will be kept in the loop.

He says peace has broken out within Labor on the airport front, but it'll be difficultmaking a final choice.
