Vic: Westpac stopwork could close branches: union

Westpac customers are being urged not to do their banking tomorrow morning when hundreds
of Victorian bank staff hold a meeting to discuss pay and conditions.

The Finance Sector Union says services will be affected, and some branches may close
when retail workers at Westpac branches hold a stop work meeting at 9.30 am (AEST).

Union spokeswoman CATHY NOYE says union members at Westpac are frustrated that after
ten months of negotiating with the bank, staffing and increased workloads have not been
resolved.

The union suggests customers avoid doing their banking tomorrow morning, saying the
meeting will last at least an hour.

Meanwhile, Westpac spokesman DAVID LORDING is urging staff not to take action that
will inconvenience customers.
